Wheeltug receives LOIs for 737NG and A320 developments
May 2012 Update
As a result of continuing successful development of its electric taxi solution for the 737NG aircraft, WheelTug has executed a Letter of Intent with Jet Airways for the rights to lease the system for their fleet of 59 737NGs.
In addition, the first LOI for WheelTug’s planned future development for the A320 has now been agreed with Israir Airlines. The deal reserves 10 delivery slots for Israir and secures WheelTug its first launch customer for the A320 development of the revolutionary drive system.
The WheelTug electric drive system uses high-performance electric motors, installed in the nose gear wheels of an aircraft, to provide full mobility while on the ground, without the use of the aircraft’s jet engines or tugs for both pushback and taxi operations. Resource Engineering Projects are partners in the development of this new technology with responsibility for both the overall systems engineering as well as all system software development and verification.
